Hello
I am curious as to what error message you get when you simply drop the
hard drive from an installed system onto your new motherboard/system.
Assuming drive arrangement is such that drive letterring isn't a problem
and assuming you alt-F1 boot to VGA (or have identical video systems) it
should most commonly boot right up.
While some people may decry the use of non-Intel systems others like
myself are running just fine with not only Athlons and Semprons but even on
the 64bit versions of each as well. In that regard nVidia chipsets seem to
be the least problematic but there are others in the group iirc running VIA
chipsets too. Even Dell has finally submitted to the quality of AMD albeit
stepping around it some by buying out "Alienware" to avoid
reprisal from Intel. So, don't worry about your basic system choice. At
worst you may need some updated drivers but that error message would help
discerning which.
