LP> My name is Elvy Musikka. I'm patient number three of eight who
LP>currently receive medical marijuana from the federal government of the
LP>United States. My illness is glaucoma and I've been receiving marijuana
LP>since 1988.
LP> By 1991, I am aware of at least fifty patients who were approved by the
LP>FDA (Food and Drug Administration), the DEA (Drug Enforcement
LP>Administration) and the NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse), after
LP>their doctor's recommendation, documentation and extensive medical
ecords.
LP> Thirty-six of them never did receive the medical marijuana for which they
LP>were approved. But all of us were able to prove to the FDA, the DEA and
LP>the NIDA that, for us, marijuana isn't just a medicine, it is the most
LP>effective, efficient and reliable part of our treatment, and the safest
ne
LP>as well.
LP> I represent 49 million disabled Americans, most of whose illnesses can
LP>be greatly alleviated with medical marijuana.
LP> In view of the mandates that the voters of California and Arizona have
LP>sent to the federal government to stop its war on us, will you now find
he
LP>compassion necessary to eliminate the suffering for all of those people
ho
LP>are seriously ill, their friends, relatives and physicians, who constitute
LP>a large segment of the almost 600,000 people we arrested last year with
LP>this blasphemy on the creator's work that we know as hemp, cannabis,
LP>marijuana prohibition?
LP> That is my question to the General, my statement and my question. So
f
LP>you can make some use of that and include that, I think it's really
LP>important that the general population hear that there are eight of us
LP>legally smoking with doctor's prescriptions in this country, and that by
LP>1991 at least fifty of us were approved, even though thirty-six of those
LP>people never saw medical marijuana. And the tragedy of it is that they
re
LP>now on very hard addictive drugs that are robbing them of their normal
ife
LP>and access to their own mind.
Personally, I agree to the use of Marijuana for medical perposes.
Personally, I think it should be a doctor administered drug. Personally
if a person is getting medical use marijuana, then who is to say that,
the person is not selling what they are getting to other individuals. Of
course you can tell I am not fairly educated on the subject and really
don't know a lot about federally approved marijuana. If you could can
you tell me the differences would be from what you would get from your
doctor compared to the marijuana that you would buy illegally on the
streets. Is there a difference and what would be the difference. Thank
you for any information you may give to enlighten me on this subject.
