AA> I just bought the Turbo C++ for Windows student edition, AA> and it didn't come with a dos compiler. No. It wouldn't. It is for Windows. AA> If anyone has the compiler and is willing to upload it AA> here I would much apreciate it. That would be distinctly illegal, and should not even be suggested. You will have to get another compiler if you want to compile DOS apps. AA> Also, for some reason I don't seem to be able to run any AA> graphics functions that is when I #include the AA> file it gives a fatal error saying that I AA> can not run BGI in Windows. Anyone know what that means ? It means what it says. You cannot run .BGI under Windows. You will have to learn to use the Windows API. If you would not mind a suggestion, for under $40 you may obtain C++ Programming Starter Kit from Egghead.com, which will include Standard versions of VC++4.0 and VC++1.52. VC++4.0 is only for Win32 OS systems, but VC++1.52 will work under Win3.1. If you want a DOS compiler, then you will need to get a compiler which specifically targets DOS. Most recent compilers not only do not produce DOS executables, but do not even produce applications runnable under 16-bit Windows systems and require a Win32 environment both for the development environment and for the resulting applications. If it is your intention to learn to program for the average home system, then you should consider that DOS is being left behind, and the Win32 environment is the present standard for the majority of home users. Hobbyists and other serious technophiles may prefer Linux or OS/2 or even DOS or one of the DOS clones, but the majority of the users don't know and don't care and will use Win'95 or Win'98 because that is what their system comes with and it is deliberately easy for them to use. > ]* Origin: *YOPS ]I[* 8.4 GIG * RA/FD/FE * Milwaukee, WI (1:154/750) SEEN-BY: 396/1 622/419 632/371 633/260 267 270 371 634/397 635/506 728 SEEN-BY: 639/252 670/213 218 @PATH: 154/750 222 396/1 633/260 635/506 728 633/267 |
