Thanks for the reply..  Tried GO as it was the default with the setup..  
Tried WAIT to see if that would help, it did not..  I tried changeing some of 
the ppp command line to match the one that is used with slattach, still no 
good..  When I use SLIPPM from the desktop ppp is detected in about 8 sec..  
The World Group bbs allows 15 sec to detect a mailer or ppp connection..  But 
the ppp data is not getting there on time if at all..
