You should be getting between 1650-1700 cps on pre-compressed files, and as
much as 3840 cps (or more, depending upon your locked port rate).

Should be the other way around (i.e. CTS/RTS flow control enabled, XON/XOFF
flow control disabled).  Dunno what terminal you're using, but as well as
the above, you should also have your serial port locked to 38400 bps, and
any auto-baud detect feature turned off.  If an Austel model, the following
init$ will work just fine (if a US/Canada model, ignore the S40=1, which
simply disables the V.25 Call Indicate tones on the Australian version)...

AT &F &K3 S40=1 &W  (DIP switches 3, 5 and 8 switched ON, the rest OFF)

Your ATI4 profile should then look similar to this...
