Well, for starters I must admit I got the acronym wrong. The old fuel oil
for ships was Navy Standard Fuel Oil (NSFO). The "new" stuff was
Navy Distillate (ND).
Hey, what can I say -- I was a nuke.
But NSFO did stink. It's what was used in the 600psi boilers at the BT and
MM "A" school at Great Lakes
