That's what outbound managers are for.

BinkleyTermXE had a nice interface for that. Afaik it was possible to kill all
outbound files for a specific node/point there. There was a way to start btxe
without COM Port for outbound managing only. If btxe is available for your
plattform you should give it a try. I used it for OS/2 but i forgot it when i
migrated to Linux. Well, another point for the long growing corona todo list.
