I admire Mr. Hanson's essay for saying so well what he believes to be true.
But there are some interesting statements here not supported by facts. In
this "poor" county, people were driving "twin cab"
pickup trucks. I'm assuming this means "crew cab", but that's
just a nit. He assumed that the vehicles belonged to the individuals in the
ER. What if that were not true? The same question applies to the cell
phones.

But the major assumption that Mr. Hanson makes is whether or not the people
in the ER were covered by insurance or not. He implies that they were not,
but nowhere in the essay is the assumption validated in any way.

The expectation plays into a stereotype which, although possibly true, is
not necessarily true.
