Stephane,
SB>JA> I considered the C Language when I Switched from my Commodore
SB>JA> 64 Computer after years of 6502 Assembly. 86 Assembly was So Much
SB>JA> Easier for me to Grasp. Now, if I did not have a background in
SB>
SB> C/C++ give you quite a lot of control over the computer, although
SB>not as much as with assembly. However, C/C++ is a higher level language
SB>than assembly, which means that you may not have as much control over
SB>the machine, but you make that up by being able to turn out code faster,
SB>since you can deal with higher level structures in C/C++ than in assembly.
SB>Also, although assembly generally yields faster programs, that is at the
SB>cost of longer development cycles.
SB>
Much depends on your Library. Many of the "Routines" (Procedures)
that I use in different Programs come from a Library. In fact, I developed
Source Code I call "Starter", a Bare Bones Program which is a Collection of
Common Procedures. When I start on a Project, I'll use "Starter".
Sometimes, I'll use the Source Code of one Program and Modify it to
Develope another Program. The "Parent/Child" in Program Development.
The amount of Time, as a Result, does not take very Long.
BTW, Often, I thought about making a Program, but learn that someone has
already made it.
SB>JA> Well, I guess you got a Good Point there. I never had to Download
SB>JA> that much at one time. Mercy, what are you Downloading?
SB>
SB> At the time, I was downloading games, as well as some utilities.
Some of the Games do take much Time to Download.
SB>
SB>SB> Then I got Windows 3.1. This was a big improvement over
SB>SB>DOS; now I could at least read/write a text file while a file
SB>
SB>JA> I wonder if you heard of anyone who "Upgraded" to Windows 95
SB>JA> and later put Back Windows 3.1?
SB>
SB> From the reports I've read, Win95 continues in the tradition of
SB>MicroSoft: the product has some problems, but they'll be fixed in the
SB>next version, which will come out soon (next summer). And then the
SB>problems in that version will be fixed in the following version, and
When you add New Features (New Procedures) there is Always the Potential
for New Bugs. Of course, New Features is part of Progress.
BTW,
Look at all the Changes that Dos went through (I know this is a Windows
Confenference).
SB>the only decent product they have released is Excel. The others are
There is Much that I don't know, and "Excel" is one of them. Is that a
Reduced Instruction Set Platform?
Thanks Again for your Response
