I didn't think I would hear **SUCH** from you. Intellectual
evolutionists (or any other kind of evolutionist, including most
Christians) are not afraid of "creationist theories" and would
one day accept such views if they could ever become reasonable.
Many "evolutionists" do accept some creationist functions within
their own understandings of the developing theory. The problem
is not so much one of creationism verses evolution (as they
probably will both be found to stem from a same base), as it is
one of, the Judeo-Christian God being made a focus. This "focus"
is often gently nudged aside into the shadows for convenience of
point. It is some bit unfair to squeeze your UNKNOWN world of
(also) thoughtful people into contrived categories, with an ugly
shove ...................especially with the prefix "so called".
Also, fear of competition (for good or bad) , can exist in any set
of human circumstances and thought. Also again! you fail to note
that competition in its myriad forms has "KILLED MORE" than any
other natural meaning in our knowing .....not to mention the "so
called" Christian dislike of competition on all of its own many
fronts. Fundamentalist Christian philosophies and free (liberal-ish)
philosophies are a bit alien to each other, and require some
mutual-careful understanding efforts, not always easy to arrange.
There is some room for creationism-evolution negotiation, many
"so-called*" Christians already seeing no major arguments between
evolution and their God.
* All the many other Christians outside of that
minority splinter group usually referred
to as Fundamentalists.

Untrue!! Evolutionists may or may not reject God; and Creationists
may or may not accept God. I believe you are the victim of
clever convincing by another and have never thought it through
yourself. Though clever argument can force us to take extreme
positions, truth is never simple unless manufactured to order.
P.S. On a two hour PBS TV E/C debate (William Buckley's "Firing
Line") Friday night, **ALL** views were brought out.
Though anecdotal in a world percentage mix, the range of
views would not indicate the "absolute" comments you have
indicated.
