Hi Jonathan,

JDBP> It should be. But it all depends from how much memory your Windows
JDBP> printer driver needs to render the colour image.
AF>

JDBP> Irrelevant when you are running Windows in your VDM. It sets the
JDBP> number of handles available to DOS applications using XMS. Windows
JDBP> does not use XMS.
I think I'm going to change that back. Win/os2 seems slower to open now. I
also changed the Dos_umb to on. I think that's what did it. Not sure at
this
point. But I finally did a color printout in Word yesterday. It usually
turns
out to be somehting simple. I thought I had that set to on but did NOT.
JDBP> BASEDEV=PRINT01.SYS /IRQ
Should I put the IRQ # where you have IRQ? Mine is 7 I think.
Isn't
that the one LPT1 uses? When I put this in when running OS2 2.1 the printer
didn't work at all until the / was added to that line. But no number after
it.
JDBP> (1) Look for an updated copy of the Windows printer driver. It is
JDBP> not unlikely that the driver itself is buggy. It's not uncommon
JDBP> with Windows printer drivers, believe it or not.
I've periodically checked the Net for newer drivers. There's the new
Omni
one and I'll have to find that.
JDBP> (3) Attempt to contact the printer driver manufacturers and find out
JDBP> what the "not enough memory" message can be caused by. It could
JDBP> be something completely unconnected to memory, such as the
JDBP> driver's inability to create a temporary file in your TEMP
JDBP> directory. It all depends from how the driver has been writtem.
I've called Canon about this and they don't know anything about it. As
soon as i say OS/2 they practically hang up! I called IBM and they wanted
$190
to discuss this with me. If IBM wants people to use OS/2 they had better get
a
handle on customer relations, I think. 'Course my biggest ambition right now
is
to sue Bill Gates for putting MS-Word out in the shape it's in. They should
be
ashamed to allow such garbage out the door. Itwould be a great program if it
would work!
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
Andrea
