After "Tin Cup" and "Spy Hard" I really got behind in my movie viewing.  I 
thought "Contact" would be better than it was, but they had to throw the 
usual dull situations in it to "humanize" it.  It wasn't bad, but fell short 
of my expectations.  
The film that is a pleasant surprise is "The American President" and will 
give you some idea how far behind I am in my feeble attempt to catch up.  
Funny how the films I miss the advance hoopla on are the most rewarding.
