CB> In our schools roughly 70% of all organizational officers are girls,
CB> including classes, clubs and student council. Our valedictorians and
CB> salutatorians have all been girls for the past 3 years. Is it
CB> cultural
CB> (NY Vs. Calif.?), or is it a product of private school vs. public,
Neither.
It's just self-selection, just as it is when a disproportionate share of
_boys_ drop out of school.
There are things beyond the control of schools and teachers. One is the
share of girls (or boys) who will choose to take advanced math or science
classes, and another is the share of boys (or girls) who will choose to drop
out.
