Hello, Bryan.
11 Jan 07 22:40, you wrote to me:

I guess it's because I'm still old school. Besides, it tends to weed out
people that I wouldn't want on the board anyway. I am going to implement a
90-day cycle: if you don't log in in 90 days, your account is deleted.

I'm going back to Maximus/2. I currently have the correct compiler and the
source code set up on my personal machine. However, thanks to a very nasty
headcold and a visit to the emergency room last night, any tinkering is
reserved for another day. Right now, I'm moving over user accounts
(including yours!) and fixing a few things up here and there.
One of the "main" reasons why I'm going back to Maximus/2 is the
integration of all the utilities I run. I can even tinker with the board
from remote via netmail now (antiquated these days, but handy to have).
I'd just like a system that doesn't crash (Telegard has a habit of crashing
every so often and I've yet to figure out why) and is very stable. Another
nice thing about Maximus is MECCA and MEX...total nearly unlimited
customization possibilities.
Anyhow, I'm sure I'll catch hell from the usual suspects about this, but
it's also to serve my callers better. I have regular callers that use my
system for QWK mail. I'm also thinking about offering QWK packets via
email (not that hard to do, really) later down the road.
By the way...you still interested in those CDs? I found all of them -
there's 32 (!) of them...I can burn copies if you want. I even have the
Jan 1995 Simtel dual CD set of "10,000 DOS Shareware/Freeware
Programs"...one of these days, that will go on the board too.
Right now, though, it's hard to concentrate. I've got Benadryl, Sudafed,
Robitussin DM and codeine in my system. I'm lucky to be sitting up
straight.
Later,
Sean
