I haven't tested the memory yet, but I think that I have some
more basic problems, even trying to understand RSJ.

First, I don't understand the physical difference in writing to
a DVD vice a CD. Since my writer works okay as a CD writer, is
there any hardware difference that allows it to write to a DVD?

Second, I plain don't understand the DVDDAO software. I
downloaded the package from Hobbes, printed out the Read Me,
studied it, and I still don't understand the process. Do I
understand correctly that you just can't write, e.g., the
contents of a drive directly to the DVD, but have to use mkisofs
(something else I don't know anything about) to create an image
of the drive contents first, then write that to the DVD. (It
would probably help to mention that I am fixated on using the
DVD writer as a backup solution.) Under which process could I
directly copy a troublesome file/directory from the DVD to
restore the file/directory on the hard drive?

Third, is there a pointer to some article or location that would
make me smart on all the above?

Thanks,

Jerry
