subject: [OS2HW] DVD Writing failures

I _think_ I've got it fixed!!!! I just managed to successfully
burn two drives to a DVD, seal it, and read it. And I did it
with a little help from my friends:

Several of you questioned my use of XCOPY. You were right to
question that. All of my failures involved the use of XCOPY.

Jim Read is the real hero here (and I'm the big dummy). Jim
wondered if I had tried to use FileStar to do the copying since
it would provide an alternative to XCOPY. I hadn't, and finally
Jim coached me into finding/learning the DRIVE REMAP function of
FileStar. All I had to learn to do was to attach the DVD and
then use REMAP to get it to show up in FileStar. After that it
was easy - just highlight the drive to be saved, and press the
copy button and "Away we go!"

Thanks also to RSJ for the cdattach command. That is a
necessary part of this operation for both starting the
operation, and for sealing it up. I will have to say that the
RSJ manual is really deficient in discussing the differences
between recording a CD and a DVD (even though there are few),
and that they need to modify their manual to disestablish XCOPY
as a recommended procedure.

(For Jim Read only: I still need a fix for the .DLL problem I
mentioned earlier. I did all the above after restoring the
earlier beta version from a hard drive backup.)

My sincere thanks for all that took the time to read and
comprehend my problems and to make suggestions for places to
explore.

Thanks again,
