SR> Lucky you to have plenty of flying space..I guess Jets take more room
SR> than copters...
Yea, and probably more fun...
(Just came back from a session that went not-so-well)
SR> Around here in Ottawa ( the capital of Canada ) flying fields are
SR> rare.unless you arre lucky to find an unoccupied soccer or
SR> football field. The clubs around here are really expensive,
SR> expensive enough not to bother joining !!
Ahh. I know(well know of) some people in Canada. Have you heard of a company
called CAE Electronics? Main office in Montreal i think.
Anyway, my club costs 100 SEK per year, which amounts to about 15 US dollars
per year. I have no idea how much a canadian dollar is, so you'll have to
convert yourself. Included in this is a monthly full-color, fourty+ pages,
newletter, or actually more of a magazine, with reviews and tests. In Sweden
we have a global "umbrella-organisation" which all the little clubs join to
and get funding. Also from the city funding is recieved. So basically it's
free here in Sweden considering that you get access to every field in Sweden
which is a member of the umbrella-organisation.
SR> As for experienced pilots----> I taught myself to fly, It took
SR> quite a lot of reading and patience but right from the start i
SR> wanted to fly so my ambition helped me to progress faster than most
I see, well I too am planning on learning to fly myself, without any
double-command stuff. It is more the extensive trimming required to get a
helicopter airborne and staying airborne, that I feel I can't handle.
For example, i accidentally set the Gyro-direction wrong at first. This means
that when a wind comes and the helicopter spins a bit, let's say, clockwise,
the gyro would countermeasure that by turning the chopper clockwise. Not so
good. :) So i flipped the switch and it went better.
SR> You're in the land of jets !! how facinating, do you pilot one
SR> and which type ( BVM, or others ? )
Well, yes Natans hobby, I believe manufacture the leading-edge technology jet
engines that operate on real kerosene, and without any Propane/Butane gas
involved. There was a big event here last Saturday on a big filed/airport
called Barkarby, sadly I was unable to attend, but a friend of mine went.
That was almost exclusively a Jet/fan event. Some very nice JA37 Viggen and
an extremely well-built, large scale, F15 with Dual Jets.... Made by Einar
Johnsson I believe.
