subject: Whats a good name for it

MM>I'm busy delving into the historical and current understandings of
MM>a human process that is not presently well-defined or understood.

MM>There are two main ways in which this behaviour is said to be best
MM>elicited, and much conflict between their followers is
MM>traditional. In truth, there are dozens of combinations and
MM>variations of the two - all of them backed up by studies of one
MM>sort and another, and none of them which have been found to be
MM>failures.

MM>However, where none of these approaches are applied, the
MM>behaviour can fail to surface.

MM>But I'm stuck for a descriptive name for such an item.

MM>Essentially a distinguishing human behaviour, it may fail to
MM>appear if unelicited. Elicitation may take any form prompted by
MM>logic, reason, research or faith - and all forms appear to be
MM>equally effective.

MM>I jotted down the words "intractable" and "intransigent"
MM>originally; they certainly get the stubborn, obstinant quality of
MM>the phenomena - but not the essence of appearing whenever
MM>elicited, no matter how....

MM>Any thoughts ?

It might help of you gave us an example of this behavior. In fact, if
it is a broad enough behavior, it might require multiple examples. By
categorizing the behavior *as it appears to the observer* you may find
an example.

If you presented the problem to me as you have described it above,
"Elicitation may take any form prompted by logic, reason, research or
faith - and all forms appear to be equally effective," without telling
me you are looking for a name, I could name it right off -- that's
cognitive behavior.
