Subj: BLIND JOKE?
Attr:
blinktalk -------------------------------
I just saw a joke in my new issue of Reader's Digest that made me
realize once again just how ignorant some people are about what to
me was common knowledge before I arrived here and learned about such
things as braille lites and versabrailles and speech readers which
would obviously be beyond their vaguest comprehension.
This is a paraphrase of what I just read: A man received a telephone
call from a customer service representative inquiring if he were
interested in caller ID. The man, being blind, asked if the caller ID
came in braille. He was put on hold for a few minutes and then the
representative came back on the line with the reply: "I'm sorry, sir.
The caller ID box doesn't come in that color."
Needless to say, I didn't think this joke was at all funny. In fact,
it made me so mad that I am seriously considering writing a complaint
letter to Reader's Digest about it. Do you think it would do any good?
Or will I be wasting my very limited spare time?
