| subject: | Diamond Modems |
Dear Bill, Saw you reply to this - =>RD> Diamond modems are just your usual Taiwanese piece's of crap. They => are said =>RD> to be made here in Oz, but when you actually see one, it doesn't => even say =>RD> Diamond anywhere on it ;) Anyhow, what I am saying is, DO NOT BUY => ONE. Your reply was - => Not the most objective nor informative report I've ever seen. You're => big on rhetoric, but pretty short on valid reasons. Care to => elaborate ? Well you are correct. The Diamond group has about a dozen AUSTEL permitted ¨modems. None are made in AUSTRALIA. Some use the Rockwell chips some use ¨the AT&T. My testing has shown almost contant 28.8 connects with a few 26.4 Perhaps the earlier non-Austel approved Diamond Pump modems were not up to ¨the standard of the AUSTEL approved ones. But almost all non-austel modems ¨have "problems" even if only with the "Tones".
