subject: AUSTEL Permits

Dear LE,

=> It's very approximate. The APPROVAL itself is very cheap. However,
=> to be accepted, your application must include test results from a
=> TS002-certified test laboratory. These results are costly to obtain.
=> Currently, the cheapest TS002-certified lab is in New Zealand,
=> though there are labs all over the world.

The NZ approval labs often end up costing more than using a local
"good" lab. ¨I can highly recommend ICT in Sydney. Used to be
about A$8,500 all up. But ¨with the new regs it could be more now.

Whats the gossip on Dynalink ??? Latest AUSTEL list shows only one AUSTEL
¨approved model, the 1414 External with Rockwell chip. How the hell did
they ¨lose all their permits???

Ian is calling everyone trying to buy AUSTEL approved modems. I heard
today ¨that they are selling the Datasytem modems (re-badged as Juni).

We had the DataSystem 2814XA approved last year, and now have the GVC
¨internal and external V.34, with some E-Tech AT&T ones in the works as
well ¨as a GVC Voice/Fax/Data/Speakerphone. Did you see that IBM have a
V.34 MWave ¨approved ??? It has sound card, modem, SVD and everything.

Regards,

john (The Diamond Group)
