| subject: | [OS2HW] RSJ in a mixed IDE/SCSI system |
Hi all,
I have just installed a Plextor 740 IDE in my eCS computer, and
it works just fine as a backup data system using RSJ 6.0.
However, my old CDROM no longer works.
To explain further, the system has a rather unusual combination
of one SCSI hard drive and one IDE hard drive. The CDROM is
also SCSI and has always worked well with CDPM.exe as a player.
The IDE hard drive is installed as master on the primary IDE bus
and the new Plextor is installed as master on the secondary IDE
bus. After installation of the Plextor and RSJ, the old SCSI
CDROM no longer will play a music CD. I can get it to read a
data CD, but once a music CD is inserted, I get a "Drive not
ready" error.
I suspected that the problem might be that RSJ installed it's
own SCSI driver. I tried deleting the driver from CONFIG.SYS,
but the reboot failed right at the point of loading RSJ drivers.
I guess that I could just yank out the old CDROM and plug the
audio cable into the Plextor, but that seems to be the cowards
way out. Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks,
Jerry
