Ick! I long ago decided that Perl was the way to go-- learn just *one*
tool. I do use awk for quickie stuff (swapping columns and such). But the
-u switch in sort produces only the unique items-- the dupes are removed.
Or you could do a normal sort and pipe that to "uniq".
I'm just a low-level user of this stuff-- but I do grind through a lot of
logs and such, and love being able to manipulate them so easily (and, of
course, I am a dedicated vi user-- a text editor).
