Yes, remapping keys -- with a keyboard macro -- is the answer. I don't have 
the time to do it for you now. But basically you should do the following:
- Create a macro for _each_ of the keys that delete something.
  (DEL, BackSpace, Control-End etc.)
  Giving it 'appropriate' behavior for aech of the keys.
- Then assign these macro's to the appropriate keys.
  In WP5.1 without plus it is something like
  Shift-F1, 5, 7, 7, ,
