I was speaking out of context, based on their performances as a whole,
and don't forget Steve Avery is the only braves pithcer to win three
games in a single playoff series, he still has a lot of time to go,
hopefully if he comes out of the injury ok. Which doubtfully, he will
ever be the same, but who knows! John Smoltz should win the Cy Young
award, and 1995 staff was just as good, but it just won't be the same
without Avery! How about Pendleton, he is back, not so much anymore for
his abilities, but for his leadership. I hope he is around a year off
two. I say give Bobby Cox his due, he created this pitching staff while
in the front office, and not on the field. He fielded this staff, and
made them winner. Back when the Braves were part of the west a lot of
the media felt that they could not compete in the east, but they showed
them that it is true that good pitching, with a balanced hitting attack
is what it take to be a winner!
God Bless!
