Synchronet just added a SSH server to it. That, plus judicious use of TOR
or similar onion routers might help.

Remember the old days, though -- it was easy for the secret service to
confiscate a BBS on suspicion of carding. This was before the 9/11 "card"
was issued. All it takes is for some mention of "terruh" and your BBS is
gone, cracked wide open, and all user information, email, and data gone to
the feds.

Add TrueCrypt to the mix. Put it all in an encrypted container file.
