SD>Some of the users are just really rude. "Why won't you give me access to SD>your fileareas?" one person asked. I replied, "You tell me who you SD>are and I'll do it." He never called back and I could care less. SD>Thankfully, very few people are like that anymore. I have a bulletin online...which is a combination of several...entitled "You Want To Be A Sysop?". It has: 1) Definition Of A Twit (does not necessarily reflect the opinions of this Sysop, but it comes close!). From Grant Bierman, one of the first users on the BBS, who designed the ANSI lightning animation I use at logon. His mother, Lois, suggested the name "Thunderbolt" when it first went online in 1992. I liked it so much, that it "stuck". 2) So, You Want To Be A Sysop??. From the original Little Rock area FIDONet coordinator, Tom Ezell. 3) The Thankless Job. From Kris Lewis...he used to frequent the FIDO message areas, and even moderated some of them. 4) The care and feeding of Pet Sysops. From Fred Hunt, who used to run a packet radio BBS in the area. Sadly, none of these either logon, or are even in the area anymore. While some of these are funny...sadly, a good part of them are true. As in the days of dial-up, and now with telnet, some users have no idea what it's like on this side of the connection. If you want, I can email them to you, or post them here...they are quite lengthy, though. I have made them for all ages in content (some of the original aliases in the examples were a bit vulgar).
