I agree about smaller LCDs.  There's something strange going on, and it's
not color-order.  The Microsoft ClearType Tuner has never improved things
for me, anywhere.  I guess out-of-color-order screens are in fact rare.

I make a simple test now for ClearType.  I turn it on while squinting.  If
the text looks blacker, ClearType stays for a while.  If it greys out to my
deliberately fuzzed-up eyes, it goes.  I find this faster than thinking
(g). If the text is GREY, CT don't STAY.
