I'd heard it was 2 CVBG's (Eisenhower & I believe Enterprise) +
Expeditionary Strike Group 5.

My guess would be that the CVBG'es keep their sailing room by staying in
the Sea of Oman/Indian Ocean & it would be ESG5 (good at brown water
ops) + some detached escorts which would enjoy the sight of Iranian
mountains.

However I personally don't see it coz I'm curious what the point would be
other than naval training for both sides e.g. I'm sure there'll be lots of
ASW wrt Kilo class subs & indeed Kilo captains getting practice in
large ship solutions.

Maybe it's a ploy to put the new democrat congress on the spot by doubling
world oil prices.
