My mother's hibiscus are pretty well protected, being up
against the house, and the cinder block walls radiate enough
heat to protect most of the plants. A good freeze does a nice
job of trimming a lot of stuff here tho. The roots of most of
the bushes are so huge from having the suckers left on that no
amount of ice could kill them.
I have some cardinal plant behind the pool that is now about
6-7 feet tall. The first frost will kill them back to about
the 1-2 foot level. Neatens them up a lot.

Small world..... Where abouts are you? Some places get a lot
of wildlife. I'm off of Port Malabar Blvd. We have a fresh
crop of squirrels, and something is digging up bugs in my lawn.
Possum? Raccoon?
