| subject: | [OS2HW] FYI: AMD Opteron Validated Servers |
Hi Folks,
Here is an item from itbusiness.ca on Supermicro's servers, which may be
of interest to some users of AMD processors.
Supermicro offers A+ Server Solutions
Supermicro Computer Inc. offers a full line of A+ server solutions that
support the latest dual-core AMD Opteron processors. Several Supermicro
A+ Servers, including the 4020A-8R, 2020A-8R, 1020P-TR/8R and 1010S-T
completed AMD's qualification process and are now designated as AMD
Validated Servers.
One of the company's Validated Server platforms is the 1020P-8R, which
features 700 watts of redundant power and supports two dual-core Opteron
200 series processors, a 1GHz HyperTransport link, two universal
(PCI-Express x8 or PCI-X) expansion slots, dual-port Gigabit Ethernet
and four U320 SCSI hot-swap drive bays with SAF-TE. The system, which
comes standard with a DVD-ROM and floppy drive, also supports
zero-channel RAID and IPMI 2.0 with a third LAN option for server
management capabilities.
In addition to dual-core servers, Supermicro is also releasing
single-processor servers. Powered by the H8SSL-i serverboard, the 1U
AS1010S-T server supports a single dual-core Opteron 100 Series
processor. Based on the Serverworks HT1000 chipset and supporting a
single-core Opteron processor along with an 800MHz HyperTransport
technology link, this server is now an AMD Validated Server.
Note: I have no connection to Supermicro or itbusiness.ca, other than
being a subscriber to the latter's online publication.
