Aparently there is a guy, "John Riley", who claims to have bought the rights to PB off of Pat Clawson, but that Pat Clawson ended up -not- providing the source code and that Pat claimed he only sold the rights to the use of the name of ProBoard and ther right to release new versions of it, but that he didn't sell the actual source code itself (or something like that... it's confusing to me). Anyway, the guy has been claiming a new 32bit release if pending, and supposedly had a small development team working on it, but since I found out about this over a year ago I haven't seen anything happen except the guy making a faulty windows installer for the 2.17 release that claims to be freeware. Personaly I loved ProBoard and have considered setting it up again. There is an FAQ on the guys BBS that can help you set up PB 2.17 with GameSrv as a telent front end rather qickly if you want. The BBS is at telnet://proboardbbs.com Phil --- FMail/Win32 1.60 Netwo (1:267/169)* Origin: ==>== part of the NYCap/Adirondack SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 267/169 106/1 2000 633/267 |
