I'm quite happy with it so far except for a problem I'm having with the MelbPC BBS system. Basically, I get what appear to be good 28,800, LAP-M (V42?) connects but things get a bit jerky on the screen with long pauses between screens of info and then often, click - NO CARRIER. I have tried locking my comm port (using Telix with 16550) at 38,400 and 57,600 with hardware handshaking etc on. My previous modem, a Banksia Bit Blitzer MX6 worked flawlessly with this same setup. (Perhaps I should have waited a few more weeks till Banksia came out with their PRO V34?) I'm not sure, but I think MelbPC use Netcomm modems which is why your message above interests me. Do you know how to disable this auto fax/data feature on the Simple? I would also like to hear what a good basic init string is for it. At the moment I am using: AT&C1&D2W1 Which works fine on the Internet (PPP) and most BBS's except for Melbpc BBS as detailed above. Any help from Simple Modem owners appreciate.
