Yeah, now go and set your terminal speed to 38400, type in "ATZ",
and then phone up your modem line and see if you get "RING".

I don't think I'll be buying any courier actually. Many of
those problems have been reproduced on other couriers.

I've never actually had a good modem myself. I started off with
1. Bit Blitzer 1200, which was very good except it liked to
squeal a lot whilst dialling out. Switching off the factory
test (or something) made the squeal stop, but the connect fail.
I just put up with the squeal.
2. Maestro ZXR 2400 had zillions of problems.
3. Spirit II had zillions of problems.
4. USR Courier had zillions of problems.
