Granted, it is possible to nominate someone from the floor. I
have seen that done many times since I began attending national
conventions in 1975, however, have you ever seen a floor
nomination succeed? I haven't.
Also, again it may be technically true that incumbents are
generally but not always elected, their replacements must have the
endorsement of the nominating committee before their nominations
have any chance of succeeding.
And unless an incumbent voluntarily gives up their position they
can have it for as long as they want it except in a few rare
cases.
Again, while this may be true in political elections at all
levels, there is a growing mistrust of incumbents that they
should not be making a career of what is supposed to be a public
service and their numbers of terms have been limited in some
states with proposals to do so at the national level as well.
I for one have never said that the N.F.B. is a terrible
organization nor am I anti national leadership. I defend it to the
death when I feel it is right and I speak out when I feel it is
wrong
