Hello, Jason.
14 Jan 07 14:48, you wrote to Scott Adams:

*looks over at Maximus*
Maximus was designed as a "server" long before Synchronet was, sir.

Software is plural. Softwares is made up. You'd be better at
putting "software packages" since that is what they are.
BBSing is a very personalized hobby and what is popular for some may be an
anathema to another. I personally like OS/2 stuff because many of the best
packages integrate directly with the OS (such as REXX integration, which is
something Windows will never have built-in, unless you install Regina
REXX). For example, I can write a simple REXX script to become a CGI to
show who my last ten callers were. But I'm not going to bash anyone else's
system because they can't do what mine can.
I still enjoy calling dialup boards (when I'm able to). Nothing like
watching the modem light up and having that intimatcy (sp) of a direct
connection.

If I remember right, Synchronet uses code from EleCOM for its FOSSIL driver
(right, Rob?).
I really wish you'd quit thinking Synchronet is the end-all to all other
BBS software because it simply isn't. It also puts a dim light on
Synchronet sysops when they bash every other software because it isn't full
of interesting, but ultimately useless, features like Synchronet is. It's
to each their own and no one has the right to say that your board is better
than mine or vice versa.
Later,
Sean
