No, I don't think so.  One of my uncles was a prisoner of war in the Far
East - Japanese behaviour was well-documented here at the time and shortly
afterwards.  I'm ne of those who feels bringing that war to an end as
rapidly as possible was worth the cost.  These days, people talk about an
imminent Japanese surrender - but who was to know, even if it was true?
