A good example comes to mind in some of the new 'plain language'
trnslations of the Bible. In the old KJV, Jesus is made to say
something like "When thine eye be single, thy whole body will
be full of light."
But in one of the newer editions (which I don't have so I can't
quote), it sez something like "If you can see clearly, everything
will something something."
I think they missed it on that one....
And what intrigues me is, what if Jesus was _not_ using a metaphor
there, but speaking literally?
