I have a suggestion for what it's worth.
If there is a bug that is causing the problem (not a blight of some 
sort), then you could probably dry diazinon.  follow the instructions 
on the bottle.  If you have pets that won't/can't go near the flowers 
use diazinon.  If your pets are a concern, try malathion.
