Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to accomplish. Here's what I did.
1. Started Mike Lin's program. In HKLM/Run it shows "C:\Program
Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime" with a check box next to
it as blank (inactive). Exited from program.
2. Double-clicked a .mov file and it launched the QuickTime program and
showed the video. Exited from program.
3. Repeated step 1 ... no change: still blank (inactive)
4. Rebooted. Repeated step 1 ... no change.
5. There aren't any qt processes in Task Manager and no QT items in the
part of the toolbar that's at the far right (can't remember the name of
that part) of the Start bar.
If memory serves ... I think I deleted the QT item using Mike Lin's program
and it _did_ come back and was active. But it's there now, flagged as
inactive, and it doesn't seem to launch at start up and store itself in the
start bar.
