That's quite similar to the NYC method.  Differences:

Clanky voting machines, like a crossbar switch without electricity.

No advance elections. Absentee voters must vote by mail on paper ballots.

The bureaucratically disenfranchised have a far rougher row to hoe.  They
must appear physically at one downtown location per borough, wait on line a
long time, suffer the slings and arrows of a dyspeptic, bored functionary,
and then return to the polling place.  Few do.

There's a large ledger to sign in to, with photostats of your signature.

The poll watchers have a discernible light in their eyes, but the election
temps have dubious literacy and lots of attitude.
