Hello, Jason.

I've got a headcold, which is spreading into my lungs, turning into
bronchitis. I'm off today; thinking about going over to the VA hospital
after Maura's job interview this afternoon. The VA is extremely slow: for
me to get in and see a doctor (Urgent Care - not ER, but I have to go
through the ER to get triaged, then head over to Urgent Care) and get my
medicine, it takes about six hours. No, I'm not kidding unfortunately.
Even then, about the only thing that helps is a Z-Pak (a five day dosage of
azithromycin - a strong antibiotic that has a long seroavailability). The
cough medicine they give me might as well be water (I normally require
dextromorphan with codeine). That and my having to go in and out of the
weather with my job doesn't help. What really gets me is my wife now has
it too and she has no medical insurance.
Sorry, didn't mean to dump, but sometimes, it gets really frustrating.
I've got all of this training and can't find a damn job to use it. Hmm,
maybe I should go out and look for work this morning instead of sitting on
the BBS bitching and moaning. Sounds like a plan. :>
As for the flu, yeah, it got me good and fast. Dec 30 (Saturday), came
home from a 10 hour shift and almost immediately got a 103-degree fever.
Shoulda went to the ER with the high fever, but sweat it out. Wound
up...uh, evacuating later in the evening and felt better. I cooked all day
Sunday but as a New Year's present, my fever broke and I felt better. I
showed up to work on Monday feeling woozy, but got better soon.
The biggest problem is that I work in a job where most people can't afford
to take time off, so they come to work sick. Someone like me with an
already compromised immune system is already at high risk...when I see
someone come in sick, I know within a week's time I'll have it too.
Thankfully, because of my current situation, my VA care is free so it
behooves me to go in.
Anyhow, enough with the soapbox.
Later,
Sean
