Hello, Philip.

Well, Mr. Pat "Asshole" Clawson basically lied to John in the
midst of negotiations, then promptly disappeared. Evidently one of Mr.
Clawson's former programmers is looking for him too and it's not for any
friendly reasons. There was a freeware release of 2.17 (you can check it
out yourself since I'm running it). It's rather dubious in origin, but for
some reason, neither the original author, Phillippe Leybaert, nor Pat
Clawson, have bothered to try to stop the dissemination of this freeware
version.

FWIW, it wasn't John that made that Windows installer, it was someone else.
John couldn't program to save his life. :) There is another sysop, Rob
King, who is working on a ProBoard clone (workalike?) for Win32, OS/2, DOS
and Linux.

I can tell you how to do that with GameSrv, VMODEM and a few other
front-ends too. It's not too hard at all.

Later,
Sean
