If the camera's able to provide 700 lines resolution, it could be used
live just as a camera, with a higher quality recorder, in the studio.
Also, the better the signal going into the recorder, the better the
signal coming out.
With a high resolution camera, one could put some filters on the lens,
shoot through smoke, etc., and still get a usable picture.  If the
camera had a so-so picture to start, these kinds of shots would turn
to mush!
You're right that a better quality camera is more expensive.  You can
go to K-Mart and see some cameras that don't have that kind of picture
quality, and don't have that kind of price either!
