Hum? USR Courier is SOFTWARE UPGRADEABLE, it is about as SOFTWARE
PROGRAMMABLE as a modem gets (except the PowerPC's 9600 modem that uses
FPU's DSP like command)... I upgraded my 20MHz modem to X2, no problem,
just run the command and there we go... And if you get a NEW Courier, it
comes with X2 ALREADY, there is no choice but to get the modem with X2...
And OF COURSE you can upgrade to the ITU standard whenever it comes out.
But if you are running a BBS, you don't need Analog modem with X2 or
otherwise... because it require an digital (be it ISDN or otherwise)
connection on one side. Good Luck...

They are 100% incompatible... which means that you'd better forget about
mixing them... :) AFAIK, they are pretty much at the same level... except
USR got a head start in development, and then marketing... :)
