Ah, but there _IS_ such a thing.  Unfortunately, it's in C++.  :-)

See: MFC (MS), OWL (Borland), ICLUI/OCL (IBM) (they're the same thing, just
different names), ... and tons of others.

However, I'll leave it at that before someone accuses me of showing a C++
bias again.  :-)
