subject: CODING STYLE

My experience has been that upon being hired, the new programmer is
handed a book of coding-style rules and told to learn and follow ... or
else. That's usually followed by a perusal of the new programmer's
code by a "senior" staff member who usually threatens to make your
expected life span considerably shorter.

The saying in my place of employment is that you don't have to like
it, you just have to do it.
