It makes a huge difference. Iraqi police etc are "on the same
side". So how many US mil types would get all worked up over some
iraqi police being killed?

Why are the 2 in any way connected? (A) Everyone knows the level of
violence was going to go up over the handover period & (B) the level of
arbitary detention w/o trial of perfectly innocent people may well actually
be the cause of much of the violence as the US mil gets widely perceived as
the enemy due to those sorts of actions.
