Understand he was the Dane who INVENTED Turbo Pascal (not Pascal itself,
that was Swiss Nicholas Wirth). Borland's ex-ceo Phillipe Kahn was just the
merchandiser. Those of you who have come lately to Pascal may not
understand what a breakthrough product TP was. Not only did it introduce
the concept of the IDE, it was also lightning fast, doing in a few seconds
what used to take my old Fortran compiler and ms linker 10 minutes or so on
a floppy-based 4.77 mHz 8088. Imagine the improved speed of debugging, the
increase in productivity. And all this in a .COM file of only 30K size !
Long may Anders' name be praised.
Sorry if I'm getting off-topic, Gary, but this guy deserves to be given the
credit he has earned but has never received.
