Now try doing it again, except this time, after seeing a 
successful return from ATI4, get someone to ring your phone
number, and see if the USR will say "RING" to you.

I've just changed ROM levels back one level, and now instead of
connecting at 26400 first time every time he is connecting at
24000 *almost* every time.  The odd instances have been at 26400
and 21600.  Anyway, he is using...
Netcomm Series 5 SmartModem M34F (SM3400) DFS256K(K)-Z7 V2.61L
